Days in Berlin with our school (Erasmus +)

My friends, teachers and I arrived in Berlin on the 20th of April 2023 at 12 noon. We had lunch early because Germans have their meals early. We left our suitcases at the hostel where we would spend the next 2 days in, and at once, we left to visit the amazing city.

The first thing that we visited was Treptower Park, a communist park that features several notable landmarks, such as the Soviet War Memorial. After that, we went to visit the Berlin Wall and Checkpoint Charlie, a famous border crossing point between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War.

The number of times in which we were about to be run over, since the traffic lights in Berlin do not last! The traffic light that took the longest was 9 seconds! Germans are also strict about the bike lanes; we got in trouble several times with the cyclists for walking on them!

In public areas, Germans seem to be noticeably quiet and peaceful, but we are completely different. Every time we got onto public transport, to restaurants or near famous monuments, we started to make a lot of noise because we were constantly laughing and shouting with excitement. And every time we did that, Germans couldn’t help giving us a dead stare!

We got to the hostel and met in one room. We did everything from gossiping to playing truth or dare, two of my friends even got into a wrestling fight! but just for fun. Thank God the teachers' rooms were far from ours! We stayed awake until 3 am in the morning! And the worst part is that we had to wake up every day at 6 am.

On the second day in Berlin, we visited museums, several cathedrals, monuments, and more! We finally got to the Brandenburg gate and took a lot of photos; we had lunch at an Italian restaurant. The teachers gave us some free time for buying souvenirs which were very expensive! And then, we continued our journey. We got to the holocaust memorial and we took the train to go to Frankfurt Port, it was a “punk” place, but it was cool. We had dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant and unfortunately my friend got ill.

Finally, we got back to the hostel, with our feet hurting, slept late again, and prepared ourselves for the next trip to Poland...
