MOVIE FORUM IN ECONOMICS
This school year, I had the chance to take part in a very special school activity: we went to see a film called A tiempo completo (Full Time) in our Economics class. It was not just a typical lesson, it was an unforgettable experience shared with friends and classmates. In fact, it was the first school outing I had in 4º ESO, which made it even more exciting and meaningful.
The film A tiempo completo tells the story of a single mother who works in a luxury hotel and has to juggle her job, her children, and the challenges of daily life. It showed us the difficulties that many people face in the real world, especially when trying to balance personal responsibilities with work. The film helped me better understand the realities of the working class and the pressure that comes with trying to survive in today’s economy, it allowed us to see the problems of the economy in society
By other hand, we also took part in a follow-up activity at the cinema, where we all shared our own experiences related to the problems faced by the main character. Many students spoke about the poor public transport connections in our country, especially in rural areas, which makes it hard to get to work or school on time. Others mentioned how difficult it can be to access proper healthcare in remote villages, where hospitals and doctors are often too far away. It was a powerful and eye-opening moment, because we realised that many of the issues shown in the film are part of real life for many people around us. Sharing those experiences brought us closer and made the message of the film even more meaningful.
I truly hope we have more opportunities like this before the school year ends. Learning can be fun and meaningful when we do it in new and creative ways.
