Global Classrooms: A Student's Experience

As a high school student I've had the opportunity to take part in a unique educational program called Global Classrooms. This initiative has completely changed the way I view learning and has given me a greater appreciation for the world around me.

Global Classrooms is a program that connects students from different parts of the world. The program is designed to promote cultural exchange, foster global understanding, and encourage collaboration on global issues.

My first experience with Global Classrooms was during a unit on Protecting the Rights of Older People. My class was paired with a group of students from other schools , and we were tasked with researching and presenting on ways on how to protect the elderly and voice the discrimination and the unfair treatment that they face everyday, with presented solutions. I learned so much from the students from the other schools, and it was fascinating to see different students voice their own opinions on the matter in a formal and professional way.

Through this program, I've also had the opportunity to participate in Model United Nations (MUN) conferences. MUN is a simulation of the United Nations where students take on the roles of diplomats and debate global issues. These conferences have been incredibly helpful, and I've learned so much about diplomacy, negotiation, and the complexities of international relations.

One of the biggest takeaways from my experience with Global Classrooms is the importance of empathy and understanding. By working with students from different cultures and backgrounds, I've learned to see the world from different perspectives and appreciate the diversity that exists in our global community.

In conclusion, my experience with Global Classrooms has been eye-opening and transformative. I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn from students around the world and to develop the skills and attitudes needed to be a global citizen.
