Cansat Project 2024

In 2024, there is a project called: “Cansat” that consists about sending a can-shaped object kilometers into the deep sky and letting it fall into the ground. The winners of the contest would receive a diploma for their curriculum.

What’s the purpose of it?

There are many reasons for it, like for example: Measuring the amount of radiation in the sky, or even testing the behaviour of the ants inside the can during the drop and landing. (It could be anything related to science).

What are the process of the Cansat project?

There have to be various groups with five students in total (But only one team can  participate in the contest). The mission is separated in two parts. Each group have to design their own can-shape (Using their creativity, but also they must follow the obligated size, measure, and weight of the can in order to pass the test and allow them to participate). 

Apart from that, they have to make the parachute, the antenna, buy the necessary components, and programming using “Arduino”. After reuniting the components needed, they have to assemble each part inside the can (Following the required weight). They could always ask for companies to sponsor their team and give them some money to buy the necessary components.

Once completed we have the secondary mission. In this part, the students have to prepare the report and the video presenting their work.

When is the deadline?

Well, they have to deliver everything, including the reports and the video in order to participate in March, and if they are listed as the finalists of the contest, they are able to send their can to the sky in April.

How are they going to be able to send their can to the sky?

There are many methods for it. Sometimes they use a Hot Air Balloon and drop it kilometers away from the sky. Cool, isn’t it?
